FYI: There is a new direct competitor of TalkTastik with impressive features. I particularly like how they now allow you to preview the transcribed text before pasting it to your desired destination. Here is the URL link https://www.poised.com/shortcut
John Mesa, MD thanks for the heads up about Poised. --- On the TalkTastic front, you can preview the text, before TalkTastic inserts it automatically. By default Insert text is set to Choose for me, but you can change it to manual. In the menu bar Settings: Step 1. Set Insert Text to manual Step 2. Start/Stop a new note Step 3. Navigate to a draft of either the transcription or the rewrite that you choose and then you can copy to clipboard or paste to whatever app you were using. LMK if this helps
Interesting, I tried to install it a couple weeks ago and I wasn't able to get it working.
It has nice kb shortcuts, text input support for rewriting, and built-in general-purpose speech AI is a plus, but without context awareness it fails miserably at transcribing technical terms for me.
The most practical difference here for me is a keyboard shortcut to paste. If I could have a keyboard shortcut to choose from the pure transcription vs the ‘cleaned’ up one, that w out of save me a TON of time vs. moving the mouse to choose every time.
Tom Lambotte that’s great feedback. Do you have any other examples that you like of apps with really well organized shortcuts for navigation?
Tom Lambotte Great feedback. Thank you.
Also... Has anyone tried to actually quit the Poised app? After installing, I couldn't close it through the standard Quit command - had to force quit the application completely.
Tom Lambotte does Magnet still work for you? I used to use it religiously, but it broke in MacOS 15, I believe. What version of Mac OS are you on?
It works my workflow in the way I use it. I have the occasional glitch with moving windows but for the most part it still does what I need. We are running the latest OS, 15.2
