Hej everyone! 👋 I'm Stephan, a 20+ yrs UI designer and frontend web developer based near Cologne in Germany. Since 2022 Generative AI enthusiast and meanwhile consultant and architect for "safe" and "on-premise" business AI solutions including RAG and finetuning scenarios based on Open Source LLMs. TalkTastic is my "typing buddy" and a fantastic timesaver and productivity booster for me. Thanks Matt and team for that wonderful piece of software! 🙏
Awesome, I'm so glad to hear that! I'm curious - are you using TalkTastic in English, German, or both? Do you switch between languages? We're currently working on language selection features, so I'm really interested to hear about your experience with different languages and how well it's working for you.
I mainly use TalkTastic in English, but sometimes in German too. I noticed the German transcriptions were occasionally switching to English after being displayed. However, since installing the latest version, 0.8.20d, yesterday, it seems like the issue might have been resolved. I'll keep an eye on it over the next few days to be sure. Let me know if you need any more details! Cheers from over here 👋
Ah, got it - you're using TalkTastic in both languages. That's really helpful to know.
Yeah. And despite this switching issue, it is a wonderfully reliable assistant in German as well. It works almost 100% reliably. But if this issue is gone with the new beta, then there really isn't a problem anymore... By the way, do you know Kerlig? I found it earlier this year via Product Hunt. It's a sort of lightweight alternative to Raycast. Made by a developer from Poland, and it's my #2 timesaver, along with TalkTastic.
Yeah, we're looking into improving how TalkTastic handles multilingual speech and language switching. It's an active area of research.
Thanks, great to hear that 👍
